NHLA is proud to announce the site’s first hike/food drive. On November 20th at 8am, there will be a hike to Rocky Peak in Simi Valley. Hikers are asked to bring canned food and/or donations for the West Valley Food Pantry. This is a great way to enjoy some scenery, get exercise, meet other hikers and help out those less fortunate. RSVPs are requested but not required.
Rocky Peak is a moderately difficult 5.6-mile round trip hike with some light rock scrambling near the summit and a total elevation gain of about 1,200 feet. The route is almost entirely exposed so bring sun protection and water (even if the temperature is low.) Parking is free and dogs are allowed on leash. Expected time for the hike is 3-4 hours.
